Welcome to the final stop on the CROP CIRCLES APRIL BLOG HOP! If you just came from Darlene Head Whalley’s blog, you are right on track. If you didn’t, then see the list at the end of this post and click on the members names to participate in the entire hop!

Our Challenge this month was fairly simple. Create a Layout or project that has a Spring theme. Its April 10th and we still have some midly cold temperatures and the snow still wants to hang around a bit longer. However its starting to get a little warmer and hopefully Spring weather will soon appear more often over the next month.

When I think of spring I think of spring vacation and getting away from the snow! Usually in the spring we would go on a little vacation, however this spring we’ll be staying home and counting down the days watching the snow dissappear. In 2007 we went to Montreal for 4 days in the Spring. We left NL in snow and arrived to Montreal where the grass was green, the flowers were blooming and blossoms were on the trees. Here is a layout I created of a pic that my hubby took of me:

There is a story behind this LO: I started it last year….hated it….put it in a “to re-do” pile and that was that….so I took out the layout…ripped it apart…added mist, washi tape, embelishments, and added some doodling. Now I’m satisfied with it! I used a fiscars lace border punch and pink cardstock to create the “lace” around the LO. The key to doing it is to make it slightly damp and adhere it with stick 2 way tape.I then added ink to it to give it an aged look. I used Basic Grey Olivia papers and chipboard letters, Fiskars Cloud punches, heart punches, October Afternoon Mist, Ranger Tim Holtz Flourish mask, Evalicious Flair, and various washi tape.

Now its your turn to participate by visiting the members blogs in the hop and leaving a comment on their beautiful Spring Projects. For every comment you leave along the way on each blog hop members blog, your name will be entered to win a prize. You’ll also have chances to win some blog candy along the way from some individual bloggers. I have a prize I will be awarding from all comments made on this blog post. You have until end of day April 12th  to play along with us. Winners will be announced shortly after that.Good luck!!!

    • Haha….yeah the lace and the stamped border with that particular pic you saw when I was creating it last year. I added papers and the pic was skewed originally with no misting. Plus the huge garbage can in the pic was a ginormous eyesore. I hated it….so I ripped the whole inside of the Lo apart did some misting. Arranged my title, pics and papers. Added washi and popped some paper hearts and clouds up. I added a flair badge to cover up the garbage can.worked perfect! Should have taken before &after pic.

  2. Lori, I just love your wprk. You are such an inspiration. Its so great we get to see you every month with the paperie design team!

    • Totally blushing here! Thanks for your ever so kind words. I love scrapbooking and it makes me feel so happy to inspire others! You totally made my day!

  3. Lori, I love that lace border!! Thank you so much for sharing how you created it, I have got to give that a try!!! Your layout is gorgeous, I love the splattering and the layering. Really loving your clouds and the word Montreal!

    • Thanks Rexene! I love white space and using different techniques on my layouts. Keeps it interesting to try different things!

  5. A re-do pile, that’s what I need! 😉 This is awesome, I love how you can add so many little details and still maintain a great balance of white space. (Can you teach me that?! lol)

    • I do have a redo/to finish pile….well more like a box full! I could seriously spend an entire week (or m.onth!) with just that box! The key to white space is all about triangles!

    • Thanks Karen!….Yeah I’m like that! Sometimes I start a layout, finish it and realize I really don’t like it ….so it goes in the redo pile. sometimes I try to fix it right away, others I just leave it….you already know the other one I love ,but hate.LOL

    • Thanks! I’m liking it now….every time I looked at it before, it just didn’t look right. I’m glad I challenged myself to do it!

    • Me too! As I was carefully lifting up the pic and paper, there was a fear I was totally going to destroy the whole thing….thankfully I got over it!

  6. Well I don’t know what the before looked like but I really, really like the ‘after’. Love the lace border, everything really. I really like the stamped (?) border as well.

    • Thanks Corina! You have a keen eye….yes I stamped around the perimeter of the layout using brown ink and a border stamp.
