Happy Valentines Day! (belated….hey lets keep the love going!) This week I posted a few sneaks of the Paperie February Club Kit- Eclectic Love! It was Rae-Lynn’s & my turn this month to privide you with some scrappy inspiration!!! Check us out at The Paperie blog in this post (Rae-Lynn’s Reveal) & this post (my reveal).
So now I’m going to show you how I created LO #1:
Layout #1: “Love”
Don’t you just LOVE that Amy Tan paper called “Surrounded” from the Ready Set Go line?!!! was inspired by an idea from Amy to cut out the letters and back it with paper . Check out the layout she created.
Now I must confess I save my packaging from some of my embelishments. And this packaging from the Studio Calico Vellum diecut stickers was perfect!
To start the layout, I placed my pic, washi & layered patterened paper (pp) onto the background “Surrounded” pp. I DID NOT USE ADHESIVE YET. I then picked one of the love locations on the paper I wanted to cut.
II used my craft knife & cutting mat to cut the word “Love” out of the paper. The best way to cut with a cutting knife is to move your paper around the turns, not the knife.
I removed the pp, washi & pic. I then used various mists from Tattered Angels, Ranger, Studio Calico & October Afternoon to create ink splatters on the top left corner and the bottom. I love removing the sprayer from the misting bottles and flicking the tubing to create tiny splatters. I then adhered my pp (Studio Calico & Basic Grey), pic and washi (Ranger, Freckled Fawn) to the LO. I love the wide washi!!! I also love the ripped washi look. I added some on the top and bottom of the background paper. I rolled the edges of the wide washi to give it a distressed look.
I fired up my Silhouette Cameo & cut the frame from Kraft CS, to fit my smaller picture. Love that Front Row Polaroid cut file from Studio Calico. I added the pic behind the frame and then poped it up with foam dots. I cut out the “you & me so happy” speech balloon from the October Afternoon Midway word bubbles washi tape that was included in the kit. I adhered it to the corner of the polariod frame.
I took the Studio Calico Darling Dear Vellum die cut stickers (included in the kit) and my Ranger Tim Holtz Distress markers. I choose a heart and colored it with the Broken China marker. I then added it to the LO.
I used my extra fine black PITT pen to write the words “today”, “tomorrow” and “always” on Kraft paper, cut it out in a rectangle shape and adhered it as shown on the LO.
I got the stamp “heart you” from the Technique Tuesday Ali Edwards “Bring On the Love” stamp set, inked it with Ranger black Archival Ink and stamped it on the LO. .
I punched out hearts from red, teal and pink Bazill cardstock using the Martha Stewart Heart Confetti Punch and the Fiskars Heart Punch. I then adhered them on the LO with pop dots as shown. I then added some My Minds Eye Enamel Dots that came with the kit as shown.
I then got my SMOOCH out and painted the heart of the Ali Edwards stamp. Love the shimmer!
Now I will show you what I done with my title. I flipped over the layout and put adhesive foam around the word love (you may have to cut the foam to fit). I then (carefully) layered washi tape on red CS and placed it behind the word LOVE:
I then traced around the letters using my black Faber-Castell PITT pen. Love these artist pens!!
And so the doodling frenzy begins! I doodled around the outter edges of the layout, the CS hearts, the polariod frame and the handwritten words. Now don’t go trying to be all neat and perfect about it, and stressing yourself out. Embrace imperfection!
and here is a close up! Look at the dimension in the title by adding pop dots to the back! In addition, the doodling certainly adds a creative touch to help your layout POP!!!
Some pics above I took as I was creating the LO. Others I took after the fact because I was in a scrappy state of creativity and I just couldnt stop/forgot to take a pic!!
In my next post, I will show you how I did Layout #2 “Best Friends”.
